From The Oregonian:

Hillsboro’s Main Library expansion is “on time and under budget,” according to Library Director Mike Smith. Construction crews expect a May completion date for the first of Hillsboro’s two library renovation projects.

The second floor expansion of the Main Library on Northeast Brookwood Parkway will add more than 38,000 square feet of space, doubling the building’s current floor plan, Smith said. Beyond the significantly larger book area, the expansion includes a boardroom, eight study rooms, a large periodical reading and quiet area, and a meeting hall that can accommodate up to 230 people.

The City Council approved a $7.06 million contract with Howard S. Wright in October for construction on the Main and Shute Park library branches. The city issued $9 million in full faith and credit bonds in July to finance the library projects, according to city documents. After Main is completed, crews will close Shute and transfer its collection to Main.
